British citizens in the United States have been warned to remain vigilant after the 10th anniversary of the World Trade Centre attacks.
With tensions high in the US, the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office has warned that there may be security threats to places where expatriates are known to congregate.
Despite no specific targets being named, the FCO has issued a general warning on their website for expatriates to keep aware at this difficult time.
The FCO warning reads: “Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. There is a general threat from terrorism in the United States. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. In light of the publicity surrounding the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we remind British nationals of the global threat of terrorism and need to remain vigilant.”
British expatriates should always be aware of the dangers that exist in other countries, and with the US on alert over potential terrorist dangers, UK expats should be careful while in the States.
