Two of Britain’s most famous expats are set to cater to the ever-increasing number of UK expatriates in California- by opening a fish and chip shop in Hollywood.
Big screen hard man Jason Statham and his friend, fellow hard man Vinnie Jones, are said to have noticed a glaring gap amongst the many eateries and restaurants found in California. With more and more British expatriates now living in Hollywood and its surrounding areas, the two actors have reportedly decided to take matters into their own hands by opening a British restaurant themselves.
According to reports the restaurant is to be opened in the flashy Hollywood suburb of Santa Monica. In a playful homage to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, the hit Brit film both men starred in, the restaurant is set to be named Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Haddocks. The Sun newspaper quoted a friend of Jones as saying: “He may live in Hollywood but he's as British as - well, fish and chips. The pair spotted a real need for somewhere that does proper fish suppers”
A growing number of Brits are crossing the Atlantic and taking up residence in glamorous Hollywood. Actors, sports stares and business people have slowly formed a strong English community in the city, and regular football (soccer) tournaments have become a staple.
