International expat expo in Lyon

Lyon

The third annual International Expat Expo in Lyon, organised by expats living in France, is set to take place this Sunday, 26 September.

The expo was the brainchild of Lyon à la Carte Expats, an organisation created and run by seven local expats. The purpose of the expo is to unite all expats living in Lyon and the Rhône-Alps area for an exciting day of entertainment and networking.

The expo takes place at the Lyon Hilton Hotel and boasts more than 50 stalls and exhibits, with a variety of themes ranging from lifestyle to culture to children’s activities and education. A number of chefs will be there to cook fresh local cuisine, and the event will be capped off by a round table discussion regarding world expat trends.

A number of specialist speakers will also be on hand, including famed sociologist Ruth van Reken, who will be discussing the problems that can be experienced with expat children, and BBC expat journalist Lucy Wadham author of the book The Secret Life of France.

It is estimated that there are around 67,000 expats in the Lyon and Rhône-Alps region, who contribute a huge amount to the economic growth of the area.

Quentin Levert, a member of Lyon à la Carte, said: “What we want to provide through both Lyon à la Carte Expats and our expo is a central place where people can get access to the information, social groups and services they need to settle in as expatriates.”
